finch like or sparrow like bird; blue wings

My husband and I saw this bird at our bird bath. It was the size of a finch or sparrow and had dark blue or purple wings. Never saw one like it. Any idea of what is is called?

It can barly fly so is he injured or baby hes not that big ether his head has like fuzzy stuff
