Red Bellied Woodpecker new to my feeders

by Melodee Campo
(Crandon Wisconsin)

I noticed a different looking Woodpecker at my feeders one day. When I looked it up in my bird book it showed me that it was a Red Bellied Woodpecker. I thought maybe it was passing through but it's here quite often. I really enjoy watching it and hope to get some better pictures of it. I don't know how common they are in northern Wisconsin but this is the first time I've seen one.

A red bellied woodpecker is a joy to watch. They love suet and I find it best to pick a spot and always hang your suet there. I have one that comes every day or so and he usually lets me know when he;s coming. I hope yours stays around...you will enjoy his antics.
