fat round brown bird

(columbus, OH)

Today two of the cutest little birds came to my feeder- they are brown but not the brown that a sparrow is- their bodies were a solid, beautiful sienna brown, they had one white stripe on each side of their head-resembling a chipmunk, they were about the size of a sparrow but very fat round bodies, and their tails were long and narrow- about the size of a popsicle stick, and stuck nearly straight up-I have never seen them here before(Columbus, OH) and can't seem to find a picture of them anywhere- any ideas?

thanks,
Janet

fat brown backyard birds NEW
by: jojo

I live in northern Minnesota with all the regular birds.I saw two birds, always together, on my roff one day. The picture didn't turn out very well. Looking out the window I saw them sitting in a huge pine tree in my yard. They are light beige/brown, maybe a stripe (I have never seen them up close. The funny thing is that they are very round, like a softball with feathers! Not in the wren family, too big, not a pigeon. Regular beek, regular length tail. Does anyone have any ideas what kind of bird this is?

Thank you Diane! You win the prize! I looked up Ohio wrens and found the spittin' image of what I saw! Thanks again!
How fun- 2 fat little wrens-
they came back today.
FYI I have:wrens, goldfinch, juncos, purple finch, cardinals, song sparrows, and just today I saw a small blue bird- hoping it comes my way again so I can snap it's pic. Loving all the color at my feeder!

They might be from the family of Wren.
