Exciting but not great

I was looking out my kitchen window a little while ago and saw a bird I have never had in my yard before. It is about the size of a cardinal with gray and with a sparrow hind feather section. It has a black and white striped head. I researched it and found it to be a "White Crowned" sparrow. I have been feeding the birds for over 40 years and this is the first time I have ever had this one. As I said, exciting for me but not a great story.


I have lots of shrubs and feeders, so it likes where things are located and has lots of protection.

    Small dusky or dark gray bird, 3 to 4 inches, with a fan shaped tail. The tail had 2 yellow triangle markings, which were about 3/4 to 1 inch each.
