Drumming on the Downspout

by Cheryl
(Newport, Nova Scotia, Canada)

I enjoy watching birds. However, I wish the yellow-bellied sapsucker that is hanging out in my woods could be seen and NOT heard.

At approxiately 5:30 am he's up and drumming on the downspout outside by bedroom. He stops. I begin to fall back to sleep, only to be awoken my his return.

Last evening we covered "his" downspout.

This morning he was back drumming on another downspout.
Tonight we'll cover all the downspouts and hope that he doesn't start drumming on the metal roof.

What then???

annoying little bird
by: Joanne

Hi, Cheryl... I too love the birds, but am having a terrible time with a yellow bellied sap sucker. He has drilled little holes all around the diameter of my scots pines. I tarred one yesterday to prevent it from bleeding to death, only to watch that little bugger do the same thing to another tree. I'm not sure shat to do to relocated him. If you have any ideas, please let me know. Good luck with your "little drummer"
