Doves Dancing

by Christine CADY

I have had the privilege of observing a parent dove and her 2 fledglings for a number of days. This morning, uncannily, I witnessed the two babes and the parent taking flight in a circular motion and hovering like a helipcopter. Then the parent flew away and left the two babes behind him/her. I want to know if the parent was saying goodbye or what the meaning of this behavior portends.
