Does anyone know what this bird is?

This is a fairly common bird in our neighborhood, but after looking at Every. Single. Picture. in the Peterson Field Guide for Eastern and Central North America I can not find him anywhere. Anyone have any ideas?

Depending on the coloring on the underside of the belly, this could be either a white breasted or a red breasted nuthatch

Thanks Judy. I think your right. In another (much worse photo) from behind you can see the rust coloration under his tail.

I think it's a White-breasted Nuthatch.
