Do all hummingbirds migrate?

by Don & Connie
(Lakeland, FL)

We are from Wisconsin where we see the hummingbirds during the summer. Do any of them stay in the Florida area during summer?

We are in Florida right now(March) and it seems like a pair of hummingbirds are doing the mating/nesting thing right now.

do all hummingbirds migrate

no, not all hummers do but I don't know which ones stay year round in Florida if any. Hummers are one of the first to nest some as early as Feb. Rufus migrate north here to the PNW and we have Annas year round. You'd have to call your local Audubon to find out about your area.

Hummers

Not all hummers migrate. I live in the Seattle area and we have an Anna hummingbird that stays all year. I have photos of it sitting on ice covered branches. In the summer we also have the Rufous hummingbird, but I don't see it in the winter.
