Desert Bird

by Wendy
(Phoenix, AZ, USA)

Thank you for your help.

I don't know anything about birds, but these little fellows have me very intrigued.

I live in the Phoenix area, and a nest showed up in my front tree about 2 months ago. In the beginning, I saw 3 distinct birds -- it reminded me of a little family in their nest...a mother, father and a baby. Lately I've only been seeing 1 or 2, depending on the time of day.

There's one (who I presume is female) that is there all the time. She doesn't ever seem to go anywhere. Every now and then her companion will join her in the nest. They remind me of some sort of dove.

Comment

It is a mourning dove. You can learn lots about them here.
