Dee Dee, Southern California

by Dee Dee
(Adelanto, California)

This bird is a good size, he has a bill like a hummingbird long and pointy his eyes are an reddish color with black in the middle, his feet are kind of strange he has like 2 separate leaf shaped feet on each leg. He is black with white. This bird was found in our school and we have been trying to search for days of what kind of bird this is. Many people say it is a Canadian goose but we looked that up and it is not. To our school this birds is a mystery.

A Western Grebe
by: Susan

Hi DeeDee
Looks like a Western Grebe. They have a stiletto like beak and their feet are lobed. Populations have declined in recent years.

Happy Birding
