dark brown and yellow eyes

I saw two birds at my bird feeder eating seeds off ground as feeder was recently emptied. Had the shape and size of common grackle and similar beak as well. About In the 10-11 inch size range. But they we mostly a solid dark brown, with some black markings on back of wings. Head was a bit darker brown. But head color was definitely not black, purple or iridescent. Had distinctive yellow eyes. I don't see anything matching this in my peterson guide or at websites i reviewed. Any idea what they might be? Sorry, I don't have any pictures.

Possibly a Rusty blackbird. The male is black, however the female is brown with dark wings.
