Dark bird with black spiky head that looks like a pointed cap

I see small flocks of these birds in the Pasadena area. They have white throats and rosey coloring under the tail.

I'm pretty sure that you have a flock of black-crested titmouse although the whole throat and breast of the bird is a light gray, other than this I don't know what else it could possibly be. Tits also stay in flocks. here are some links:
