Cute little bird

My husband found this little baby bird on the side of

a dirt road. It is very small about 3 1/2 inches long.
Could anyone tell us what kind of bird it is?

This is an update on the little bird that
we rescued from the side of the road. We hand
fed him meal worms, canned dog food and egg yolks
for a couple of weeks. We kept him in a parakeet
cage and brought him outside during the day.
In the begining when we released him he would
fly around the yard and return to a lower bush
and would call out for food. We returned him
to his cage at night and repeated this for
aprox. two weeks. The last couple of days he
stayed away almost five hours and when he returned it flew down and took a meal worm out
of my husbands hand and flew to a bush to eat it.
On the last day that we released him he didn't
come back. After a week or so we heard his call
in the woods and we noticed he was with two other
birds of his type, red eyed viro. A very happy ending.
