confused birder

Hi

I saw a bird down by Taber and I can't figure out what it is. It was about the size of a blackbird ( and I think it may be one) and it was black with a reddish orange coloured head. I saw it by a lake on the shore on a farm with lots of trees. It had a strip of red on the wings too.

Thanks,

Hard to say. Possibly a Western Tanager or an Oriole. It is the red on the wing that is mystifying for identification. Susan
