Pileated Woodpecker

Pileated Woodpecker

I have seened and photographed a Pileated Woodpecker in my backyard. I live on a shared acerage and was surprised to see this beautiful bird. We have many species flying in to the feeders, but this was a real different bird. He did not come into the feeder, but rather on a neighbouring tree.

He was simply climbing up the tree and as he did I took photos. I have a bird book for my area, so I looked him up.

It was a real treat to see a rare bird and to photograph him.
