Chew, Chew sound

by Maureen
(Palm Coast, FL)

I only hear it; I can't see it. Early morning, before dawn even. I hear a "Choo, choo, choo…choo-choo-choo-choo-choo! Or maybe more of a 'chew' sound. Sometimes it'll do five quick 'choo's' and sometimes six. He actually seems to stop when it starts to get light! Can you help?

Early morning. Three "chew ...chew...chew" with silence between the chews. No other sounds with it.
Loud and distinct.

I have one too and it's not a cardinal. Medium size...between a chickadee and a Robin. No distinguishing Marks other than it has a light gray back with a white body. Medium sized tail. I live in East Coast Virginia. It is a loud bird.
