Challice Parks

I have seen these tiny charcoal/dark birds in our yard as well as in woods while deer hunting. Almost stepped on one since it was so tiny. They are no taller the an inch and a half and do not see any other identification markings on them. There always seem to be several at a time and feed mostly on the ground with only a litely sounding chirp.
