Central Florida Gulf Coast Brown Beauty

by Leslie Napolitano
(New Port Ritchey, FL, USA)

I see many of these birds in a wooded/marshy area of a fresh water lake in my western central Florida locale. I have many photos of them. They are a very soft, sable brown color w/black beak and eyes. They are not very timid. Please see photo and help me ID them. They are one of my favorites! Thanks!

Grackle?
by: Hayley

These look a ton like female great-tailed grackles. You can surf the web for pictures to compare if you want! By the way, that is a great picture!

Warbler
by: Susan

Great photo. I think it might be a Prothonotary Warbler. They have a very long bill.
That's my guess.
