cardinal feeding fish

We have a black headed cardinal that has adopted the fish in our pond! He feeds them like his own brood! Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

The strange thing is, we had a juvenile cardinal that did the same thing 3 years ago. Could it possiby be the same bird?

Amazing
by: Cherryl

I am so excited to see the black-headed cardinal. (Of course, the video is really cute too--just amazing!) I too have a visitor to my back yard on occasion. It is great to find that your bird matches mine. I have wondered and wondered what kind of bird it was, since the only cardinals I have ever seen here in the Mid-Ohio Valley (Belpre, OHIO)are males that are all red or the female brownish cardinals. I now have a name for my visitor. I have never heard of a black headed cardinal and I could not find anything like it in the birdbooks. Thank you so much for finally solving my puzzle.

I too have a goldfish pond but have never witnessed anything like that. I think nature is more interesting to watch than TV. What an Awesome video! Good post.
