Cannot identify this bird.

Hi all

I spotted this bird this morning in my back yard feeder. I'm guessing it's a female. She's bigger than a sparrow, smaller than a Robin. I live in Illinois about 80 miles south of Chicago. I do not live by the water or woods.
Does anyone have any info on a book that shows both the female and males of birds? I can never find enough info on the female of a species. Thanks so much!

Good Bird Book NEW

Hi Teresa. I like the "Birds of North America " by Golden Field Guides from St. Martin's Press. It shows both male &female. It also describes the bird's habits and shows a map of where they live and migrate and a lot more info. It costs about $16.
