can you tell me what type of bird this is please

i found it in my yard at the foot of my porch. it is a fresh hatchling about as big as a man's hand.it has a really odd shaped beak and no feathers hardly except alittle on the back. i am 48 years old and i cant remember ever seeing a bird that looks like this. it kinda looks like a taradactule or something that should be extinct, it was actually alive when i found it.i would really like to know what kind of bird this actually is, an on another note i would really hate to see the size of the mother. i hope you can identify it.. thank you for your time.

can you tell me what type of bird this is please NEW

to answer the question about where i live..i live in a small town in kentucky, i live right in the middle of the downtown area and i do not live next to water. i have about three tree's in my yard but the bird was found at the end of my porch an none of the trees are close to my porch.i had actually heard chirping about two or three days prior to finding the hatchling.i have to admit that everytime i am around my porch area, i cant help but look to see if i can see anymore strange species and i can say that it wont surprize me a bit in this world that we live in. i do hope that someone out there can tell what kind of bird this actually is..

From the size of the feet and claws and ugly beak I think it resembles a baby vulture.

I'd like to know too!! NEW

Do you live near big trees? That is one big baby bird! I'd love to know what it is too. That bill shape is most amazing. Mom must be quite big! Do you live near lakes or streams or other bodies of water?
Good luck!

I admit my bird identification skills are not as great as most of your followers, but I'd like to know what it is, too!
