bunting maybe

by Michael Kelly
(Frankfurt)

This bird has been sitting on a lamppost outside our flat for the past 4 weeks and without respite emits the most unmelodious loud "song". He or she sometimes disappears into the lamppost which by the way switches on at night.

WE are puzzled about why it has kept up this behaviour for so long and why it seems to be solitary.

Any ideas on identification?
