Brown Bird White Ringed Neck

by Tina
(Nevada)

I saw two birds walking on the ground, they were light brown with white rings around their necks. Their bodies were somewhat wide, legs skinny. They weren't very big. Maybe the size of a Mourning Dove, but shorter? I live in Southern Nevada. I've never seen this kind of bird here yet. Does anyone know what it could be? It was running kind of fast; so at first I thought a Killdeer, but I don't know if they are out here.. TIA :)

Certainly sounds like a Killdeer and yes they are in Nevada.
