Bright Red Head with gray body and pronounced beak....

I have been feeding birds for years and I saw a different bird yesterday. It has a very red head with a gray body, but the beak was almost hawk or parrot like. it ate, then flew away before I could grab my camera.

I live on Long Island, New York on the Northern East end. I think I may have seen an Gang Gang parrot that escaped.
Have you any idea of what I saw? I know its NOT a female cardinal.

Unusual red-headed bird in CT

Just saw what might be the same bird in central CT this morning. It was on the larger side (about the size of a large dove) feeding on insects on a tree limb. It was very skittish and quick, and made a noise that I've NEVER heard before. I initially thought it was an angry squirrel until I actually saw it.
