Birds seen in New York

Mid March in Moriches LI NY, early Am I saw a group of about eight of medium sized birds that to my untrained eye were exotic. They were blue but a blue you would see on a peacock. They flew in up down wave like motion absolutely beautiful. I never saw them again but would like to know if anyone can identify them I wish I had a camera at that moment!

Look at tree sparrows. Iridescent blue, white belly and scissor like tails. They fly almost like dive bombers and we fonder ourselves lucky when they select one of our bluebird houses.
