We have 3 or more pairs of red bellied woodpeckers that come to our feeders. It can get hard to tell them apart and to know exactly how many. We feed sunflower seeds and suet.

Currently we have 2 babies coming with their parents. They are very entertaining to watch while they demand to be fed and attempt to land on the feeders.
The red bellied are beautiful and fun to watch, but we do get frustrated with their feeding behavior! For some reason they hang on the feeder and dig the seeds out letting them fall to the ground. They can quickly empty a just filled feeder! I frequently have to shoo them away to allow other birds to feed.
