My neighbor tonight said they saw the same type of birf and she said it was an Eastern bluebird
I googled it and yep mystery solved!

I live in Bush, LA. Its April. I just saw a very small bird (less than 5 inches) with black wings and a tan head crawl out of a hole in a pine dying pine tree. The hole appeared to have been bored. Any ideas.

We just had a major rain storm here in Slidell, La. and I went on a search too to find what kind of bird I just saw. I came across your question. This bird was a pretty aqua blue color, small in size and had a yellowish colored bill. I went to get my camera and he was gone, and so far, has not come back.

If I see him again, I will try to capture a pic.
