Bird continually flying into my window from branch 2 feet away

by Debbie

I have a gray bird flying into windows of my home, a small bathroom window most of the time from a branch about 2 feet away. It also sits on the ledge of a large front window and stares in the house. It's driving my cat crazy and I'm concerned it is hurting itself. This is the 5th day. Picture attached. I don't know what to do.

Bird flying into window NEW
by: Anonymous

We had the same problem with a robin. Someone told us to put tin foil on the window that he may seen its own reflection. I believe it was around mating season. So we tried it and it worked. Hope this is helpful.
I was so happy. I was afraid he was going to get hurt. And secondly really didn't want a broken window.

Already tried those ideas NEW
by: Debbie Floyd

Thank you but I have tried that. It's not an accidental thing. I know it sounds weird but the bird (I am guessing now that it might be a gray fkycatcher) sits on a branch outside my bathroom window and then flys into the window, goes back to the brach, sits for a moment or two and then flys into the window again (the hits are not particulary hard hits, but more like taps). When it's not doing that, it's flying across the other windows on that side of the house fluttering it's wings as close to the window as it can get.I has stopped sitting on the window ledge since I put things in the window.

Any other ideas? Thank you!

If you don't have a sticker... NEW
by: Margaret Mariam

...you can hang necklaces on the inside of the window frame; or Holiday wreaths. Anything that breaks up the flat light of the glass. None of the wild birds intentionally fly into my windows, but sometimes they don't make as tight a curve as they intended. A Carolina Wren knocked itself out one time, but recovered (and left) after a few minutes.

bird needs help. NEW

Put some kind of large sticker on the window so he knows it can't be entered.
