Big fat brown and white

by Anita
(Duluth, Minnesota)

Sorry I don't have a photo. I didn't think to take one. I spotted a bird fly into my backyard, and then I started noticing more and more until I counted six. I think I have narrowed it down to ruffled grouse or broad winged hawks. They had big, rounded bodies. I thought I spotted a ruffle on the head and black band on the tail, hence the ruffled grouse. But their coloring looked like the broad wing hawk in my bird book. These are quite numerous here in Duluth in the fall.

Didn't grab a camera
by: Anita

Unfortunately they left before it even occurred to me to grab a camera. I looked up Bob White on the computer and it also looked like the birds I saw, so now I have three possibilities.

Could you please post a photo of the bird? I have never seen it in my life. I am curious.
