Barred Owl

by Gigi Soucy

Barred Owl

Barred Owl

A neighbour feeds the birds all winter and I started going over to take pictures, of course along with the birds came the squirrels, one day he told me he had seen a Grey squirrel which I did not have in my picture collection, so off I go hoping to capture a couple of shots, but that day there wasn't a bird or squirrel around except for a few chickadees, as I was walking away and decided to look up and was pleasantly surprised by a beautiful Barred Owl just sitting there on the branch about 5 feet up just watching me, he did not seem bothered at all that I was roaming around, so I stayed and of course took many pictures of this beautiful creature and that is why nothing else could be spotted that day Ha!They were all hiding!!!!

What a beautiful, majestic bird. You can be assured the other birds are hiding! A birder friend of mine, can hoot like a pygmy owl. Then all the birds fly out to find where the owl is.
