Baby bird


Baby bird found outside central VA, mostly black with a white speckled chest and a yellow beak. I think it might have a broken wing, I don't really know what to do with it.

Hi, It is a baby but I don't know that it has a broken wing. It probably doesn't have all of it's wing feathers in yet and the best thing you can do is to put it back where you found it,if you haven't had it long the parents are still there looking for it. The parents watch the young birds, feeding them and protecting them even after they've left the nest. You can't possibly keep it alive and if you were to manage it wouldn't be able to survive in the wild without have it's parents to teach it. If you don't feel you want to take it back you need to take it to a wildlife care center or an Audubon Society, it is illegal to keep a wild animal in your care and for the sake of the birds survival it is the only alternative. I
