Baby Bird I Found

Baby bird I found

Found him about a week ago in my back yard. he couldn't fly--sitting duck for predators. I have been feeding him a mash of sugar crisp cereal, vanilla ice cream and peanut butter, and he seems to like it a lot.

Been giving him flying lessons but it's slow going.

My wife thinks his curved beak means he's a raptor--me, I don't have a clue.

Would love to know what he is and any ideas on how to best return him to the wild would be appreciated. If that can't happen, best ideas on how to keep him as a pet would be appreciated as well.

Baby Bird

You could also get in touch with a Bird Sanctuary and they may take the baby bird in and work with him until he is able to fly. We found a young Rail, he hung around our property for a few days. I called the Bird Sanctuary and they said to try and catch him (which we did) and bring him into the Sanctuary. A lady worked with these birds and when they were ready, she would take them back to the location where they usually were at. Just an idea.
