Are these Grossbeaks?

by Deb

These birds are about 5 or 6 inches long and quite round. One has a slight light orange bib and the other has very bright orange/yellow bib.

Are these Grossbeaks? NEW
by: John

From the pictures the shape and the markings above the eyes and the conical shaped bill it would appear to indicate this is a female Grosbeak.

The males can have more striking coloration
as in the case of the rose breasted grosbeak with a rose colored breast and black wing and white wing bars or evening grosbeak which has gold and black coloration.

If you google female grosbeaks the images of these look very similar to your bird.
