I saw a bird in Central Illinois, it was standing very still in a yard near a tree. It was the size of a small football, pretty fat. It was mostly gray with light shades of blue and pink. Just its wings were striped black and white, and its head sat back from the breast. It had a white throat with a black ring all around it with reddish eyes and orange hooked beak and legs. It did not fly away...just sort of walked away. I have never seen a bird like this in the neighborhood. Help!!!
