I've never seen this bird in our yard in Seattle before. It is a little smaller than a robin but larger than a sparrow. Has even darker stripes on breast.

HI, that is very vague and could be many different birds but without a better description it could possibly be a female Redwinged Blackbird. She is a little smaller than a robin and stands erect. She has black legs and beak and is dark brown with brown stripes on her breast. google a picture of her to be sure
