70 years of birdwatching and never seen this bird before

Black with shade of brown like a cow birds head. Very similar to a mourning dove but a bit larger and a loud flying noise. It did not have the whistle flying sound of the mourning dove. Had a small crown on head and was interested in feeder as it sat on roof. I'm in central WIs. and it is May. In 70 years of watching--never saw anything like it. Please help.
