5/7/2014 Rose Breasted Grosbeaks in Chicago

(Chicago, IL)

For the past few years, we've been on their migration path. We were so excited to see 4 males and 3 (?) females at our feeder this afternoon on the southwest side of Chicago. They usually stay a few days and move on, as I don't see them in the summer. Our feeder is heavy on black oil sunflower seeds, which is what I think attracts them.

Rose Breasted Grosbeaks/Orioles NEW
by: Kris

I too received the warm welcome of the the Grosbeaks at my feeder in Hartford, WI (30 miles north of Milwaukee)this week. I experienced the same stop-n-go as they migrate for only a few days. However, last year they stayed most of the summer. Hopefully they will do the same this year. Also enjoying the Baltimore orioles. 4 pairs this year.
Keeping the jelly trays filled this week.
Spring is finally here in Wisconsin.
