2 Very Large, long golden crested, short legged, exotic looking

(saint petersburg, fl.)

i spotted these two birds today landing in a pine tree outside my window in saint petersburg, florida. i do not believe they are common to the area. they are so beautiful that i am compelled to find out what they are.

they had short legs, about the size of a turkey (nothing else resembles a turkey)very striking with a mixture of colors including grays, black, white and speckled white and dark grey - it happened so fast that i did not get to see the shape of their feet.

This is a though one. The only thing I can say is that, if you see them again get a picture and post it. With weather patterns changing so radically many birds are out of their range.
