05/01/2011 - Male Rose Breasted Grosbeak in Lyles, TN

by Charles
(Lyles, TN)

We have not seen this bird very much here in Tennessee, but we had some Black Oil Sunflower Seeds. We have the seeds just laying in a plastic bowl right outside of our window. This is one of the prettiest birds we have seen here. We seen this bird here for the first time in the year around the first of March. He does not come around very often, but He also appeared again in the first part of May. I would have loved to submitted a picture here, but so far it has been very hard to get a picture of him. He gets scared off easy. Our feeder is about five feet off of the ground.
